
ASO Presents Beethoven + Strauss
This weekend, our scheduled Friday night performance (January 10) has been canceled due to the harsh weather and the closing of the UAB facilities. Our Saturday performance continues as planned at 7 PM and all Friday evening ticket holders are welcome.
If you hold a ticket to the Friday night performance, you may:
- Call the ASC Box Office at 205-975-2787 on Saturday, January 11. They will be open from 5:00 PM -8:00 PM. You will be re-ticketed for a seat of your choice before you arrive for the concert beginning at 7 PM.
- Call the ASC Box Office at 205-975-2787 and release your seat, and your account will be credited for the value of your ticket. You may use this credit for another ASO performance* at ASC. (*Special event by the Secret Sisters is not eligible for on-account credit tickets)
- Come early to the concert hall Box Office window and exchange your Friday ticket for a new seat assignment for the Saturday evening performance. The ASC Box office will be open on Saturday, January 11, from 5:00 PM -8:00 PM.
The ASC Box Office will process ticket credits when they re-open on Monday, January 13 at 9 AM. Your unused Friday evening ticket value will be credited to your account to be redeemed for another ASO concert anytime during this season.
Carlos Izcaray leads the orchestra in Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso — A tour de force of orchestral writing, displaying Ravel’s unique blend of impressionistic harmonies, Spanish folk influences, and rhythmic vitality. Then, the ASO welcomes pianist Awadagin Pratt to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Awadagin has received acclaim for delivering “forceful, imaginative, and precisely tinted” performances and is hailed as “one of the great and distinctive American pianists and conductors of our time.” The concert concludes with Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life). Standing as one of Strauss’s most ambitious and iconic works, embodying the grandeur, drama, and virtuosity characteristic of his compositional style.

Join us at 6:15pm before the concert in the Reynolds-Kirschbaum Recital Hall (upper level, next to main doors) of the Alys Stephens Center.
