Would you like to be a part of the arts community here in Birmingham? Consider becoming a volunteer for one of our many engaging programs. Volunteers are the heart and soul of what makes us UAB Center for the Arts, and we would love to have you share our mission of enriching lives through the arts. Volunteer Opportunities

Join us at the Alys Stephens Center to help assist patrons with seating, programs, and other patron experiences. Your responsibilities can include the following: 

  • Warmly greeting our patrons 
  • Ushering patrons to their seats 
  • Directing patrons to the facility's accommodations (restroom requests, KultureCity Sensory room, etc.) 
  • Assisting House Management with any irregularities during the event (KultureCity requests, ticket questions, HVAC needs, etc.) 
  • Development & Promotional Outreach (Tabling)

Hop into community arts service at ArtPlay where you can find a plethora of creative activities. We are looking for those who appreciate teaching and sharing art with our youth. Check out the opportunities offered at ArtPlay*: 

  • Assist teaching artists, prepare materials, and encourage participants  
  • Help with registration, ushering, and guest assistance during events 
  • Support art-making activities and help maintain a positive environment 
  • Assist with organizing program materials, outreach, and data entry 

*Background checks are required. UAB employees are exempt from background checks. Volunteers must be 18 or older.   

We are currently welcoming new volunteers who would like to support AIM’s work in a variety of ways, from hospital volunteers, tabling to musicians. For those who want to inspire and heal through the arts, consider volunteering for the following: 

  • Assisting artists during session* 
  • Musicians who would like to share their talent with patients and staff through soothing, acoustic performances in hospitals* 
  • Tabling at various events 
  • Preparing art supplies and materials 
  • Magic Camp assistance 

*UAB hospital orientation and health clearance required. 

Currently, there are no opportunities available at AEIVA.  

*Please note that many of AEIVA's "volunteer opportunities" are covered by the new student tour guide program, an educational experience for those who are interested in museum studies.
