UAB Arts in Medicine Presents Wearing the Inside Out with Artist Margery Amdur

In this episode of Virtual Mental Health Monday, internationally recognized artist Margery Amdur shares insights into her latest project, Wearing the Inside Out—a live performance that reimagines the hospital gown as both garment and metaphor. Known for her immersive installations called Felt Narratives, Amdur transforms fragile materials and overlooked objects into sculptural environments that explore vulnerability, memory, and reinvention. This new work continues her interdisciplinary practice, turning symbols of medical care into layered expressions of resilience and identity. As Amdur states, “By manifesting what was not initially understood, my work serves as both a mirror and a door.”
