Mozart’s Requiem with Mahler’s Adagietto & Kindertotenlieder

Ming Luke conducts the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in one of classical music’s most enduring and mysterious works: Mozart’s Requiem, left unfinished at the composer’s death and completed by his student Franz Süssmayr. Joining the orchestra are soprano Andrea Baker, mezzo-soprano Alexis Davis-Hazell, tenor Brian Skoog, and bass-baritone Doug Williams. The program opens with the aching, songlike Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, followed by his Kindertotenlieder — five devastating songs on loss and grief, sung by mezzo-soprano Alexis Davis-Hazell.
