Masterworks Series Requiem
Ming Luke conducts the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in one of classical music’s most enduring and mysterious works: Mozart’s Requiem, left unfinished at the composer’s death and completed by his student Franz Süssmayr. Joining the orchestra are soprano Sarah Tucker, mezzo-soprano Alexis Davis-Hazell, tenor Brian Skoog, and bass-baritone Doug Williams. The program opens with Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 — the “Unfinished” — and Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody, a searching, quietly profound work for mezzo-soprano and male chorus.
