Coffee Concert Planets
Daniel Cho leads the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in Gustav Holst’s The Planets — a seven-movement suite that travels from the driving, martial energy of “Mars” to the ethereal wordless chorus of “Neptune” — one of the most spectacular works in the orchestral repertoire. The program opens with Leonard Slatkin’s Voyager 130, a contemporary work that extends the cosmic theme into the present day.
