ASC Commissioned World Premiere Seán Curran w/ Third Coast Percussion
Seán Curran Company opens its 20th anniversary with its debut performance at UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. Curran and nine exceptional dancers look back at the company’s history, reimagining its hallmark Abstract Concrete (2000), and look forward, continuing their investigation into human connections, relationships and universal truths with the world premiere of an ASC commissioned piece, Everywhere All the Time. The program includes live music by Grammy award-winning ensemble Third Coast Percussion.
Join us one hour before the show at 7p in the lobby for a conversation featuring Rachael Inman, Artistic Director of Dance Foundation, and Marshall Anderson, Architect and Owner of Anderson Nikolich Design Initiative. ASC Director of Engagement, Amy Miller, will facilitate a conversation inspired by Seán Curran and Third Coast Percussion’s piece premiering that evening. Discussion topics will include ways in which dancers think about structure when they choreograph, and ways in which architects think about movement when they design, as well as the ever-changing environments in which creators create.
