“…Rosanne is equally talented at reinterpretation, singing with such close-to-the-bone sincerity that you can’t help but think: like father, like daughter.” – Elle
The Inside the Arts pretalk for Rosanne Cash will be a discussion between local country music artists, Janet Simpson and Sarah Lee Langford. They will cover topics relevant to Rosanne’s music and country music as a whole, touching on feminism in country music, female musical partnerships, iconography, and the distinct voices of women in country.
Sarah Lee Langford is a textile art teacher, mom and songwriter who was raised up in the bluegrass and folk traditions and now fronts Fist City Country Show, playing classic and original music.
Janet Elizabeth Simpson is a songwriter and musician who transplanted to Alabama from North Georgia in the late 90s, and has played with and led ensembles in traditions ranging form classical and jazz to punk to roots and Americana.
