The Gulf States Newsroom and Back Pocket Media Present Local Live(s) + Gulf States Newsroom
The Gulf States Newsroom, a collaboration among public radio stations in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, is teaming up with Back Pocket Media to put on a live storytelling event. Local Live(s) is a show that brings together journalists and community members for a night of entertainment and conversation. The team of regional reporters, who cover health care, race, the economy and more, will share the stories behind the stories they’ve reported on — and how the personal and professional intersect. Think of it as a podcast, but live and all about the region we love.
The event will feature live music from local musicians and a reading by Alabama poet laureate Ashley M. Jones.
Gulf States Newsroom storytellers:
Stephan Bisaha, wealth and poverty reporter based at WBHM in Birmingham
Brittany Brown, criminal justice reporter based at Mississippi Public Broadcasting in Jackson
Shalina Chatlani, health care reporter based at WWNO in New Orleans
Bobbi-Jeanne Misick, justice, race and equity reporter based at WWNO in New Orleans
