Melody Turnbow

Melody Turnbow is a Birmingham based Vocal and Performance Coach, specializing in Musical Theater, Jazz, and Commercial vocals, owner of Tuned & Brave Vocal Studio. Melody holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance, Musical Theater from Ouachita University and a Vocal Certification as a Singing Success Method (similar to Speech Level Singing) Teaching Associate. Her students have ranged from age 5 to 65, exploring all genres including Opera, Soul, and Jazz. While her students vary in age and interest, her especial joy is helping teens and younger students find their unique voice. She’s coached through voice changes in young men, and helped girls find a healthy ‘belt’, while maintaining good vocal health and developing a signature sound.

Melody has a varied background in performance, education, ministry, and administration. She has been throughout Birmingham, appearing and teaching at Birmingham Children’s Theater, Red Mountain Theater, and community productions. She has led worship around Birmingham, served on the Music & Worship Staff at Dawson Family of Faith in Homewood, stage managed/produced visiting performing artists, taught at UAB’s ArtPlay Musical Theater Camps, assisted Briarwood Christian School’s Show Choir programs, and consulted for performing arts ensembles at Samford University.

Melody currently maintains her voice studio – Tuned & Brave, sings at various live venues around Birmingham, occasionally performs with Nationwide Coverage – an event cover band, and continues to consult and teach with UAB ArtPlay and Briarwood Christian Schools. She’s married to Matthew, her most valued cheerleader and promoter, and most favorite geek.
